St Mary’s St Joseph’s

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization of women and men who join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St Vincent de Paul. Organized locally in Conferences, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ.
Our Conference at St Mary/St Joseph has over 70 active members and it is a model for other conferences in the Houston-Galveston Diocese. At the center of our work are the home visit teams who go into the homes of the poor and needy, bringing relief to their needs and extending a loving hand. In 2013 our conference made 270 home visits and provided assistance to over 90 families. Aside from home visits, we are also very active in collaborating with outside agencies to expand our ability to serve the most vulnerable in our community. Last year we were able to secure assistance in paying energy bills for an additional 100 families.
Our work continues to expand, but that is dwarfed by the growth in spirituality that each Vincentian experiences as we extend a helping hand and truly see the face of Christ in those we serve.
If you would like to explore the possibility of joining our Conference, you should consider attending one of our monthly meetings, or simply contact the Church Office to express your interest.
